When I Met Blessing Offor Before the Heart So Real Tour

In August, I had one of those “God is so kind” moments: the kind that feels small in the grand scheme of life, but somehow lands deep in your heart.

I got to meet Blessing Offor just before he kicked off his Heart So Real Tour.

I don’t say this lightly that I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Not because meeting an artist is the point of anything, but because his music has been one of those steady companions in the background of ordinary days. The kind of songs you put on when you’re driving to rehearsal, making dinner, or trying to reset your heart when you feel tired. His music has a way of reminding me that joy can be honest, and faith can be real. Not polished, not performative, just true.

When I met him, what surprised me most was how grounded he seemed. Warm. Present. The same kind of person you’d hope someone would be when their voice has already made its way into your life through headphones and car speakers.

I remember thinking, Lord, thank You for people who use their gifts to point to You, and for the courage it takes to keep showing up and offering what You’ve been given.

As a worship leader, I’m constantly thinking about what it means to lead people somewhere they can’t always lead themselves: into gratitude, into surrender, into hope. And in that moment, meeting someone whose music has carried that same kind of intention, it felt like a quiet confirmation that God really does use songs. He uses ordinary people, imperfect voices, and simple obedience to reach hearts.

I left that experience genuinely encouraged, not just inspired, but reminded of what matters:

  • staying humble
  • staying faithful
  • staying joyful
  • and keeping Jesus at the center

I don’t know what your August looked like, but mine will always have this little highlight tucked inside it. A reminder that God sees us, delights in us, and sometimes gives us gifts we never expected.

And yes… it was still the coolest thing ever. 🙂

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)

If you’re going to a stop on the tour, I hope it blesses you. And if you’re in a season where you need your heart reminded that God is real and good, I hope you find a song that helps you remember.
